Franchise - A collection of related media or films all based on one original work - As The Lego Movie have created games and Lego sets.
Synergy - impact of a number of media activities is greater than the sum of their individual effects on consumers - So the Lego Movie uses synergy through linked products like mini figures.
Tent-pole production - A movie that is worth a lot of money - The Lego movie was so successful it helped create other products/ games/ films to grow the company.
Ensemble cast - Multiple principal actors who are getting roughly the same screen time - Wild style and Emmet are both principal actors who are always in the scenes as much as each other.
Conglomerate - A company that owns several companies involved in a mass media product - The Lego Movie own several companies and have created a movie with them all.
Vertical interrogation - Is the process whereby a single company controls both the production and the supply. So TT fusion, Owned by Warner Bros, make the video game.

ReplyDeleteTent-pole production- A film that can make large profits to support funding of other projects. The Lego movie makes large profits that Warner can afford to fund other projects, as well as tie-in merchandise, which will prolong the profit stream from the film.
